Christmas 2020

Sadly we don't have much to reflect on this year, Covid-19 has definitely impacted our usual banding year. We did, however, manage to finish the year on a high! We were invited by local nursing home, St Mary's Mount, to play carols for them. Typically the heavens opened as we arrived but we did mange to play a few tunes for them, which we were informed they thoroughly enjoyed, before we had to pack up and spend the next hour trying to dry our music out in our cars!

Later that day, when luckily the rain cleared and the sun came out, we played outside St Mary's Church in Uttoxeter, for their outdoor Christmas concert. We really enjoyed playing together again and entertaining everyone, it really did make us a feel a little more 'christmassy' after a very quiet December!

Remembrance weekend 2020

This year has marked the first time the band hasn't taken part in our usual remembrance weekend activities. Its definitely been an odd year, but missing out on our annual charity concert on the Saturday evening and not leading the march and playing in the Sunday service has been completely devastating for us all.  However, our very own shining star Leanne, principle cornet player in our development band and front row player in our main band ,made us all proud by playing the Last post at both the Sunday service and on Armistice day. She did an amazing job of representing the band, and also showing everyone what a fabulous musician she is. Well done Leanne!

The 21st January saw us hold our annual band awards dinner. This gives us all a well deserved treat after the chaos that is Christmas and gives us opportunity to socialise outside of the band room. Most importantly however, we award members of the band with a number of awards.

The year 2020 marks Robs 10 year anniversary as conductor of the band. He received a special recognition award for his commitment to the band, along with his patience(!) ,  and for all the hard work he has put in over the years. Well done Rob, here's to 10 more years!

This year the award for Development Bands player of the year was awarded to Emma Beet. Development Bands most improved player of the year was awarded to David Bacon. The MD's player of the year was awarded to Michael Patterson and Band's Person of the year, as chosen by the band members, was awarded to Lucy Clipsom. Well done everyone!

Uttoxeter Racecourse

We had our first outing of the year on Saturday 25th January at the Uttoxeter Racecourse.  What an outing we had!  We entertained the crowds as they were waiting for the racing to begin.

Thank You to Scotty's Little Soldiers

We had a brilliant time playing and raising money for Scotty's Little Soldiers back in November.  What a lovely little write up from Glenda and Peter Jackson.  Thank you so much
